Conductix-Wampfler Selected to Power E-RTGs at Appalachian Regional Port
Motor driven cable reels for the connection to grid power
Conductix-Wampfler is proud to have been selected as the E-RTG partner in the recent supply of three motorized cable reels equipped on RTG’s (rubber tired gantry cranes) at the new Appalachian Regional Port (ARP) outside of Chatsworth, GA. This new inland intermodal terminal, strategically located in Northwest Georgia, will be operated by the Georgia Ports Authority and served by CSX Railroad. These large cranes, traditionally diesel powered, will be equipped with motorized cable reels for the connection to grid power. Not only will GPA save significant fuel and maintenance costs over the lifespan of the cranes, they will also achieve a significant environmental improvement with this being a zero emission option.
Conductix-Wampfler is a global leader in crane electrification and data transfer. As the veteran player in the global E-RTG market since 2006, Conductix-Wampfler today maintains over 60% market share in this area with an install base of over 500 cable reels on RTG’s and over 500 on high-speed RMG’s. This is the result of experience and commitment to partnerships like GPA, forged along the way. Conductix-Wampfler offers a complete product offering within our E-RTG line-up. With our ability to offer various options from grid-powered conductor rails and cable reels to Hybrid and Full Battery options, we can study all scenarios without bias and offer tailored solutions.
The new cranes at the ARP will serve container cargo trains over a 2,000 FT long runway. Aside from powering the cranes, the cable reels are also equipped with fiber optic capabilities for all data transfer requirements.
